Summary

The Coordinator of Family Faith Formation is responsible for coordinating faith formation programs that engage and educate children, youth and families in the Catholic faith, in collaboration with the Director of Lifelong Formation. This role involves creating a welcoming environment for families to grow spiritually and intellectually as missionary disciples in the world by fostering spiritual development and ensuring that faith formation activities align with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Program Coordination

  • Create the Faith Formation calendar for the School of Religious Education, including class sessions, catechist and parent meetings, sacramental activities, and special events.
  • Implement and manage comprehensive faith formation programs for families, including children, youth, and parents with attention to cultural implications in the community.
  • Coordinate and facilitate sacramental preparation programs for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
  • Organize and lead family-focused events, retreats, and workshops that promote faith development and community building.
  • Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where all families feel valued and supported.
  • Engage with families personally to build relationships and support their faith formation needs.  Encourage active participation of families in parish life and liturgical celebrations.

Administration

  • Ensure accurate records are maintained of program participants, including registration, payment, attendance, and sacramental records.
  • Assist the Pastor/Director of Lifelong Formation and OD to prepare and manage the family faith formation budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with the Pastor, parish staff, and volunteers to ensure cohesive and effective faith formation programs that fit with the needs of the parish.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and catechists, and provide ongoing support and development opportunities.
  • Develop and distribute ongoing communications to keep families informed about programs, events, and other faith formation opportunities, and maintain program handbooks and other materials.

 

Requirements:

General

  • Stay current with developments in catechetical ministry and family faith formation through ongoing education and training.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as agreed upon to accommodate program schedules and parish needs.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Pastoral Studies, Theology, Faith Formation or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, and practices.
  • Experience in catechetical ministry or family faith formation, preferably in a parish setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Proficiency in appropriate use of technology and social media.  Includes effective use of MS-Office suite of products and comfortable in navigating spreadsheets and databases.
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are a plus.
