Description:

Job Summary Part-Time Bookkeeper, non-benefits eligible. This position reports to the Director of Parish Operations and assists with managing contributions, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Bookkeeper helps the Director of Parish Operations with ensuring that the parish’s financial operations are cost-efficient and in compliance with accounting standards and Archdiocesan policies and procedures. Responsibilities

• Managing all bookkeeping entries including payables and receivables in QuickBooks

• Prepare and deliver deposits of parish income and post to the appropriate accounts in QuickBooks

• Record contributions from online giving

• Supervise Sunday collection counters

• Prepare weekly report of Sunday collection

• Reconcile accounts, including bank and credit card statements

• Maintain all financial records based on Archdiocesan policies and best practices

• Process bi-weekly payroll along with necessary journal entries

• Maintain vendor files including W9 processing and preparing 1096s/1099s

• Preparing financial reports for the Director of Parish Operations as requested

• Assist the Director of Parish Operations in preparing the budget and annual financial statement

• Assist the Director of Parish Operations in human resources administration

• Maintain records for sick days, vacation days, FMLA, etc.

• Prepare tax letters for donations

• Assist the Director of Parish Operations with administrative tasks, including Virtus compliance

• Manage retention and archival of records according to Archdiocesan guidelines

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 5 years of bookkeeping experience

• Knowledge of accounting practices, personnel procedures, and applicable federal and state laws

• College degree in Accounting or Business beneficial • Computer skills, especially QuickBooks, Excel and Word.

• Excellent verbal and written skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills with emphasis on detail and accuracy

• Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality and consistently exercise discretion and good business judgement

• Excellent customer service orientation and teamwork skills

• Ability to work well alone or with others

• Adaptable to changing work environment with strong time/work management skills

• Willingness to expand knowledge through workshops, seminars and study

• Church or non-profit bookkeeping experience beneficial
