Description:

The Director of Lifelong Faith Formation is a vital member of the pastoral team at St. Mary of Vernon, dedicated to fostering encounters with Jesus Christ through dynamic educational experiences, prayer, and the sacraments. This position involves discerning, planning, and implementing comprehensive faith formation programs that nurture spiritual and intellectual growth for parishioners of all ages, collaborating with a professional staff to build a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive faith community.

Key Responsibilities

Faith Formation Leadership

• Religious Education: Direct and oversee programs for grades K-6, including sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

• Lifelong Faith Formation: Develop and implement initiatives that encourage spiritual growth and deepen discipleship across all stages of life.

• Intergenerational Engagement: Design and manage faith formation opportunities for children, youth, adults, and families, ensuring inclusivity and relevance.

Specialized Programs

• Oversee and train ministry leaders to run programs such as Baptism Preparation, Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW), SPRED, Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), and Young Adults.

• Address diverse learning needs with tailored approaches and support systems.

Community Engagement

• Organize meetings, workshops, and special events, including Family Reconciliation services and a vibrant Vacation Bible School (VBS) program.

• Inspire parishioners through year-round spiritual and intellectual development opportunities.

Administrative Responsibilities (with the assistance of an administrative assistant)

• Record Management: Maintain accurate records for students, catechists, and volunteers. Oversee the registration and enrollment processes for all faith formation programs.

• Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers while ensuring compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies.

• Effective Communication: Utilize various communication channels to promote class schedules, parent meetings, events, and other faith formation opportunities.

• Program Scheduling: Create and submit annual calendars for faith formation programs in collaboration with the Director of Operations.

• Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the Lifelong Faith Formation budget in partnership with the Director of Operations.

• Collaboration: Work closely with parish staff, local vicariates, and diocesan leaders to enhance program development and foster community partnerships.

Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Confident teaching, communication, and presentation abilities.

• Proficiency in Office 365 and database management.

• Experience in implementing diverse educational materials and methodologies.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with parish staff, volunteers, and program participants.

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings and a commitment to the Church's mission.

• Bachelor’s degree in pastoral studies, theology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

• Familiarity with Archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements (e.g., VIRTUS, Mandated Reporter).

• Prior experience in education, administration, or faith formation.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend special events as needed.
