Description:
The Custodian maintains the cleanliness of the parish and school buildings and surrounding grounds in accordance with the standards and schedules set up by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for timely completion of cleaning schedule as determined by Operations Director or designate.
• Ensure standards of cleanliness and neatness are maintained.
• Observe systems and structure of building and notify supervisor of any needed repairs.
• Empty trash bins and clean restrooms on a as needed basis.
• Perform maintenance tasks as directed.
• Re-stock materials such as toilet paper, hand soap and hand towels in restrooms.
• Clean up spills and disinfect area, on a as needed basis.
• Sweep and clean floors of buildings, removing noticeable scuff marks or other minor damage.
• Help to control traffic during drop off and pick up at the school.
• Keep windows and glass smudge free.
• Ensure trash is placed in a receptacle.
• When in contact with hazardous materials, inform appropriate authorities to handle situation.
• Support snow removal needs to ensure safe conditions for parishioners, school, and parish personnel as well as visitors.
• Perform other cleaning duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• High School graduate, GED or equivalent.
• Previous working experience as a custodian a plus.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate to others in writing.
• Ability to work in team environment.
• Familiarity with basic PC skills, email, and Internet.
• Proactively carry out duties.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrate understanding, respect, and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
Physical and Mental Requirements Functions:
• Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
