Description:
The Religious Education Coordinator (REC) for Family Faith is responsible for the overall vision of a holistic catechetical ministry to children (in grades PK through 6) serving 250 children. This includes all aspects of designing, developing, directing and evaluating Family Faith religious education and faith formation programs. The REC works in collaboration with the Director of Family and Teen Faith (FTF) to implement the sacramental preparation for First Communion and Reconciliation.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must be able to:
- Establish and maintain successful relationships with children, parents and volunteers.
- Build and maintain community.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Solve problems creatively.
- Manage several projects at a time.
- Coordinate effective needs assessment process.
- Create and implement new events/programs based on needs assessment.
- Facilitate effective group interaction and team work.
- Work collaboratively as part of several teams as a member and often as a leader.
- Be computer literate and a fast learner, knowledgeable of Microsoft Office systems and Realm.
- Be sensitive and respectful to Catholic doctrine, practicing Catholic preferred.
- Be Virtus compliant.
- The candidate should possess a passion for working with, children and families and a gift for connecting them to their faith in engaging ways.
- A degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, Religious Education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of human development, pedagogy and current trends in education in general and religious education specifically is valuable.
- An understanding of current Catholic teaching is essential.
- The position requires weekend hours and some evenings.
