St Joan of Arc is a vibrant and welcoming parish situated on the Skokie- Evanston border. We are currently seeking a Director of Music (Part-time) to plan, lead and participate in Liturgical music at all weekend Masses and other parish and school Liturgies such as Holy Days, Reconciliation services, sacramental celebrations and prayer services. Music is an essential part of our worship and we place a high value on quality music that inspires our participation in the Church’s worship. Responsibilities include: Plan, lead and participate in Liturgical music at all weekend Masses and other parish and school Liturgies. Currently there is a 3 Mass weekend schedule (Saturday Vigil Mass 4:30PM, Sunday Masses 8:30AM and 10:30AM). Assemble and produce a weekly worship aide. Recruit, train and schedule volunteer cantors and instrumentalists. Recruit, train and direct a growing choir program (adult and children’s choirs). There is a desire to see the seasonal adult choir (Advent and Lent) move to a more regular October-May schedule. Plan, research and select appropriate music for the general assembly, cantors and choirs. Oversee the maintenance of the music library and musical instruments. A Bachelors Degree in Music or better. Previous experience leading a Parish music program preferred but not essential. Strong keyboard (piano/organ), vocal and directing skills. Possesses a thorough understanding of the Catholic Mass and Liturgical music. The Director of Music is a pastoral, prayerful person, committed to personal and professional growth. A team player who fosters positive relationships. Proficient in MS Word/Publisher.
