Description:

This position requires approximately 30 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, and reports to the Pastor. The Director of Faith Formation is responsible for the following: Develop and implement a comprehensive faith formation program for children and adults. This includes overseeing sacramental preparation for First Eucharist and Confirmation candidates and their parents, RCIA, and Catechist Training. Strong interpersonal skills are essential and sensitivity to generational cultural differences is important. The successful candidate will be responsible for administration and the registration process for all of the above programs; organizing large numbers of children, teens, and adults for retreats and field trips, including the logistics of schedules, facilities, and transportation; work with area clergy for sacramental classes that may be combined with other parishes; be present at all sacraments and meetings which are often during nights and weekends.

Requirements:

Be a practicing Catholic with a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies or Theology. 2+ years work experience with church and catechism. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, email and presentation software. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Must have experience with and passion for working with children, teens, and families. Must be able to plan and teach classes, and organize and lead events and worship experiences for adults and children; must be able to manage complex projects, attend to details, and improvise when needs dictate. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be a relationship-builder and be able to effectively engage children, teens, and adults; must be flexible in working with other area parishes if programs need to combine; must be able to work as part of a team with other lay staff, clergy, and parish volunteers.
