Description:

Job Summary:

Work to maintain and operate mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, air handlers (make-up air and heating/cooling water distribution) and pumps.

Painting and minor repairs to buildings.

Work directly with outside contractors on all repair and improvement projects.

Schedule and participate in maintenance support of all ministry events while operating as ‘lean’ as possible within budgetary restraints.

Maintain the physical integrity of the property at a standard of cleanliness that is expected of the buildings.

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and the Operations Director.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Assist a team of people including maintenance supervisor and janitorial personnel. Must be willing to roll up your sleeves and participate in set-up and execution of events. Weekly meeting or report to Business Manager to review events of the past week and discuss the next week and any long term projects. All contracts must be signed off by the Business Manager or Pastor.

• Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules. Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.

• Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor or outside contractors. Bid out purchase of all materials necessary for operation, maintenance and janitorial requirements of the buildings.

• Along with Maintenance Supervisor, negotiate maintenance contracts and regular maintenance repairs with outside contractors. This includes ensuring that the best possible price is agreed upon for the benefit of the property. All contracts must be approved by Business Manager.

• Work with facility scheduler in front office as needed to maximize the utilization of space

• Along with Maintenance Supervisor, develop and maintain a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule, which includes oversight of all mechanical systems throughout the building in order to preserve and extend the operational life of each of the building's critical systems.

• Develop an Emergency Operations Plan for the church and the Parish Center. This will involve working together with Maintenance staff as well as ushers.

• Full time benefits eligible position.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Excellent references.
