Job Title:

Maintenance Worker II

Description:

1. *Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others in writing and via email.

2. Performs maintenance service and small repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, plastering, HVAC, and electrical.

3. Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job.

4. Clean weekly and as needed the church and all rooms used for religious education, the parish social services and any meetings. This includes following mandated Archdiocesan and Centers for Disease Control sanitizing procedures, as necessary.

5. Weekly cleaning of the Rectory offices and private residence rooms. This includes light dusting and cleaning of bathrooms.

6. *Perform general labor and tasks such as sweeping, trash removal, and cleaning with strong attention to detail. This includes areas that may need to be cleaned daily, weekly, and monthly.

7. *Dusts, empty wastebaskets, wash walls, windows, doors, replenishes toiletry supplies, and sets up for activities.

8. *Mops, strips, waxes floors, vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas, using equipment such as mops, vacuum, buffer, and shampooer as needed.

9. *Responsible for cleaning, polishing, painting, maintaining light fixtures, trim, surfaces, rooms, hallways, restrooms, stairways, floors, etc.

10. *Install and remove air conditioning window units, replace batteries for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and light bulbs, as necessary.

11. Primarily responsible for performing on-site routine services including installation, maintenance, and repair aided by staff or volunteers when available.

12. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, etc by performing preventative inspections looking for potential problems and notifies supervisor(s).

13. Consult Pastor and/or Business Manager on the purchasing of items in advance as necessary/required for upkeep of parish facilities and grounds.

14. *Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed.

15. *Perform snow removal during the winter season and seasonal required landscaping of grounds.

16. Solicit bid/proposals for construction, maintenance, repair projects as directed by the Pastor and/or Business Manager.

17. May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of position.

Requirements:

Education Required: Working knowledge of general High School matter including basic Math and English skills. Ability to use email and navigate the Internet.

Education Preferred: High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

Experience Required: Three years of experience in maintenance or a related area.

Experience Preferred: Five years of experience in maintenance or a related area.

Skills Required: Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds maintenance. Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, HVAC and electrical.

Skilled Preferred: Bi-lingual

Other Required: Valid Driver’s License. Successful completion of the Archdiocesan Safe Environment Compliance requirements, which include a background check and Virtus training. Lift, push/pull 50lbs. Climb ladders and stairs, as necessary. Availability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and overtime, as necessary.
