Role Summary
Under the direction of the Pastor, the Coordinator of Youth Ministry develops and implements a comprehensive adolescent ministry aligned with the mission and vision of the parish. Includes preparation for the sacrament of confirmation, discipleship, continued spiritual, intellectual, human and apostolic growth and development for parishioners in junior and high school, and parish community outreach activities.
The Director of Youth Formation will be expected to work 40 hours or more per week including evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
• Plans and implements catechetical instruction and discipleship.
• Develops relationships with students and creates a relational apostolate to do so, including social events for youth.
• Recruit and train core group of adult volunteers within each area of youth ministry.
• Organizes and participates in other offerings for youth within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and beyond (ex: AriseMKE, Steubenville Conferences, Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally, camps, retreats, mission trips/service projects/other summer events).
• Leads yearly parish retreat and formation sessions for youth preparing for confirmation and service opportunities aimed at spiritual growth and development for junior and high school teens.
• Manage and monitor budget and expenses.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
• Practicing Roman Catholic with an understanding of and love for the Catholic faith.
• Experience and familiarity with Theological studies
• Previous parish experience, preferred
• Must be flexible with availability, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong skills in communication, organization, presentation, and leadership.
• Strong work ethic and a joyful energy to inspire youth and work with volunteers.
• Working knowledge of digital media and communications.
• Valid driver’s license.
• ADA physical requirements.
Nature of Supervision Received
This position receives moderate supervision and is expected to often work independently.
Judgement Exercised/Decisions Made
Employee is expected to take initiative and make decisions based on the mission and vision of the parish and school, under the direction of the Pastor, and in collaboration with the entire faith formation department. Employee is expected to work with the allocated budget and coordinate financial decisions with supervisor.
