Job Title – Parish Secretary Hours – Part-time, unbenefited (18 hours per week Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) Reports to – Business Manager Parish – St. Margaret Mary, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville, IL 60540 St. Margaret Mary Parish is looking for a Parish Secretary who can bring a positive, others first, and joyful attitude as afternoon receptionist and coordinator of sacraments for parishioners. Often the first point of contact, the Parish Secretary represents our church with “radical hospitality” to all who call or enter the office, and anyone who inquires about baptisms, weddings, or funerals. The Parish Secretary will be part of the parish office staff who works as a team driven by the Catholic faith and dedicated to fulfilling the vision and mission of the parish. In this role, you will… • Facilitates scheduling, initial coordination, internal and external communication, record keeping, and various tasks regarding baptisms, weddings, and funerals • Answers telephone pleasantly and efficiently, assists callers, and routes calls or takes messages • Greets and assists visitors in parish office in a hospitable fashion • Maintains parish database such as entering new parishioners, inactivating non-active parishioners, and making changes to records including address changes or sacrament updates • Maintains church calendar for sacraments • Performs general tasks for staff as needed such as correspondence • Helps maintain an organized and hospitable “front of house” parish office • Responds with hospitality, sensitivity, and patience to a variety of visitors and callers • Understands the importance of confidentiality of conversations and church records • Other duties as assigned If interested in this amazing opportunity, please send a cover letter and resume to Rochelle Luciano at rluciano@smmp.com.

Requirements:

Required ● Minimum five (5) years of experience ● Demonstrated supervisory experience and personnel management skills ● Ability to diagnose and perform routine to mid-level repairs. Certifications are “a plus” ● Exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying (light to heavy-weight material/appliances/equipment), climbing ladders/stairs, and walking on rooftops ● Normal working hours are from 8 am until 4 pm, Monday through Friday. On occasion other hours will be assigned. These added hours will be compensated as overtime pay or compensatory time at the discretion of your immediate supervisor. The Pastor will determine if maintenance staff is needed to support church events on Holy Days, Holidays or during Sacramental Events. ● On-call availability for emergencies ● Must support the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Joliet
