Job Title – Parish Office Assistant Hours – Exempt full-time, benefitted Reports to – Business Manager Parish – St. Mary Roman Catholic Parish, 11409 W. 195th Street, Mokena, Il 60448 POSITION SUMMARY The Parish Office Assistance delivers a warm and friendly atmosphere serving as the receptionist at the front desk in the parish office. IN THIS ROLLE, YOU WILL… • Handles visitors, phone calls, emails, and monitors front door entrance • Schedules Mass intentions • Prepares weekly documents for the bulletin editor and for Sunday petitions and announcements • Updates parishioner records in parish database and informs staff of changes as needed • Manages intake of new parishioners, including preparing and mailing welcome packets • Updates sacramental records and issues new copies of sacramental certificates • Schedules substitute priests for Mass and Confession; requests letters of suitability as needed • Coordinates and orders lunch for monthly staff meetings • Accepts all imminent and non-imminent calls for the Anointing of the Sick, coordinating with priests to ensure that the sacrament is received • Schedules Funeral Masses and Chapel Services with clergy • Confirms eligibility of parishioners to be Godparents and Confirmation Sponsors • Baptisms: o Provides information on Baptisms to parents; schedules families for Prep Classes o Emails parents with Baptism information; creates and mails Prep Class packets to parents o Accepts all incoming paperwork, ensuring that all requirements are met o Registers families for Baptism dates, scheduling with priests and deacons when necessary o Issues new Baptismal Certificates and Congratulatory letters to parents • Other tasks and duties as assigned WORK SCHEDULE: • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm To apply for this amazing position, please send cover letter and resume to Stephen Warunek at
