Description:

The Youth Minister/Associate CRE will develop a program to encourage the youth of St. Isaac Jogues Parish to live as disciples of Christ and to actively live the Catholic Faith. The YM/ACRE will provide spiritual support and direction to youth in high school and assist in planning and executing educational programs for children in grades 1-8. The Youth Minister/Assistant CRE will report directly to the Director of Religious Education. Major areas of Responsibility: • Develop a systematic and intentional plan for adolescent catechesis that utilizes a variety of formats, settings and timeframes • Coordinate the recruitment, training, supporting and evaluation of volunteers in the youth ministry program • Be a resource person to parish staff on issues related to youth and youth ministry and educational programs for children in relation to Church teachings • Coordinate service opportunities between parish and youth programs (school and RE) • Assist to coordinate Altar Servers and promote program (school and RE) • Design supplemental academic programs for children in both school and RE • Assist in the classroom at the junior high level (help to bridge between academic programs and youth ministry) • Assist at Mass and Devotional Events (school and RE) • Develop Mission Trips for teens • Attend regular staff meetings • Report to and communicate with the Director of Religious Education Primary Objectives: • Promote the Catholic Faith to the Youth of St. Isaac Jogues Parish • Work as a team member of the Religious Education and Youth and Faith Formation Department • Develop a team of volunteers to assist in Youth Program • Assist as needed to all events generated from the Religious Education and Youth and Faith Formation Department Education and Experience: • BA in Theology, Religious Education, or National Credential in Youth Ministry with a background in educational methodologies, preferred Masters in Educational Leadership or educational certification. • Active member of the Catholic Church able to participate in the sacraments of the Church • Willingness to continue to grow through professional development

Requirements:

• BA in Theology or related field….ability to read and understand Church documents and guidelines • Knowledge of Catholic teachings, catechesis and documents on youth ministry • Strong verbal skills and written communication skills • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office • Manage budgets for major events and programs • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions using a variety of concrete variables • Proficient with technology, ability to communicate electronically using different formats
