Description:

Duties and Responsibilities 1.*Accurately prepare annual and interim budgets in a timely fashion, and consistently prepare monthly reports, all of which require the pastor’s approval and signature. 2.*Oversee management of all parish bank accounts including problem solving. 3.*Handle all bookkeeping including but not limited to functions such as reconciling bank accounts, payables and receivables on a monthly basis. 4.*Parish liaison to the local government agencies and is responsible for obtaining required permits and licenses. 5.*Liaison to Parish Finance Council. Must prepare materials for all meetings in addition to supplying requested information by finance council members. All documents should be submitted to the pastor for his review and approval prior to any meeting with the Finance Council. 6.*Administer benefit enrollments as well as assist the Pastor in the development of personnel policies such as job descriptions, hiring, terminating and disciplinary policies within Archdiocesan guidelines. 7.*Manages staff accountant, stewardship and database associate and maintenance supervisor. 8.*Oversees custodial and maintenance functions. 9.*Manages payment of salaries and payroll functions including garnishments. 10.*Supply and assist Pastor with performance reviews for all staff personnel. 11.Maintains personnel files in an orderly and timely fashion. Purges files as indicated by Archives and Record’s guidelines. 12.May follow up by phone or written notice to Parishioner’s concerns or requests. 13.*Attends meetings relative to the role, as necessary such as parish staff, deanery, vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings. 14. *Oversee implementation of guidelines and policies for all volunteers, i.e. Virtus, CANTS, etc. 15.*Maintain communication to parishioners concerning Archdiocesan collections, i.e., Annual Catholic Appeal, Rice Bowl, etc. Assists other members of the Parish Staff in completing their assignments when available or as needed. 16.May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of a Business Manager as directed by the pastor. 17.Prepare and manage an annual calendar of finance deadline activities.

Requirements:

Publicly support and promote the Pastor’s initiatives and decisions regarding the mission and operation of the Parish. Assist Pastor with stewardship of the physical, financial, and personnel resources of the parish in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines. REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES Education Required: Some business training at the college level and has prior business related experience in accounting or management. Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or related field. Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in parish or business or the equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience. Experience Preferred: Three to five years of business management experience. Skills Required: Knowledge of accounting practices, personnel procedures and policies, and federal, state and city laws. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and knowledge of QuickBooks. Other Required: Understand and support the mission of the parish. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
