Mother Cabrini, Patroness of Immigrants, established 67 institutions of care around the world, including hospitals, orphanages and schools. She has a deep connection to Chicago, having founded two hospitals here- one of them being the old Columbus Hospital in Lincoln Park. Her Canonization was celebrated in Rome and even Soldier Field!
The National Shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini is currently seeking to hire an Office Assistant. This would be either a full-time or part-time position, depending on one’s skill level and availability. The ideal candidate will manage the reception area, the Shrine Gift Shop, and assist Shrine Staff with ongoing projects. Duties include, but are not limited to, answering telephone calls, opening/ closing the Shrine Gift Shop, and giving occasional tours of the Shrine. Requirements:
We seek a welcoming, compassionate spirit. Someone who can work well in a team and individually on projects. Someone who can achieve measurable goals and meet deadlines. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This person must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Programs, and familiar with office equipment (copy machine, phones). Knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus. Able to stand, kneel, climb a step ladder, and occasionally lift packages. Maintains professionalism in dress and demeanor.
The ideal candidate will have the capacity to conceptualize their work as a ministry. They will be willing to understand the Shrine’s mission and obtain a basic knowledge about the life of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, the Shrine and the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
