Description:

The Communications Coordinator serves to support effective and meaningful communications with the congregation of St Margaret Mary Catholic Parish and the surrounding community. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining a communications strategy/plan for the parish, and for the proactive oversight and execution of communications activities in cooperation with other staff and ministries. The individual will be highly professional and positive with outstanding ability to communicate a Catholic message and an eagerness to explore and learn. Creates and maintains communications strategy & plan for parish and drives plans to implementation. Works with parish staff and ministry leaders to ensure effective communications of programs and initiatives. Facilitates and oversees communications capabilities and processes (internal and external). Oversees and coordinates content across email, print, web, and social media. Facilitates and drives communications improvements. Manages and coordinates volunteers supporting communications efforts. Maintains and oversees social media communications. Plan, design, and post materials as appropriate. Oversees content published on parish website. Advocates and oversee improvements to the parish online presence. Administers content creation as needed including overseeing media collection and retention. Coordinates and publishes regular email communications to parishioners. Coordinates communications related to parish outreach and development.

Requirements:

Post-secondary education in Communications or related major. Equivalencies in the form of experience will be considered. Experience with the communication of Catholic message, especially with web-based media. Excellent written communications skills. Proficiency with mainstream tools and platforms for web and social media design, publishing, and promotion. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a number of varied tasks and responsibilities simultaneously. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated interpersonal skills – a willingness to serve with a positive attitude. Proven ability to work as part of a team. A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently and perform duties with minimal direction and supervision.
