Coordinator of Religious Education

Description:

Spirituality, Prayer Leadership, and Events:

  • Leads in sacramental celebrations for students and families (ex. 1st communion, confirmation)
  • Prepares advent and lent services and celebrations for religious education students and families (Prayer services, Lenten confessions).

Catechist Support:

  • Leads catechist meetings
  • Suggests resource materials
  • Encourage spiritual growth
  • Print, organize, and gather supplies for catechists

Coordination and Administration:

  • Prepares with a yearly calendar for the program.
  • Collaborates with the Liturgy Team when making liturgy decisions.
  • Update, create, or find curriculum for specific lessons.
  • Ordering textbooks, teaching materials and resources for the program.
  • Organizes and enters registration information into computer database.
  • Organizes classroom and sacrament materials.
  • Monitor attendance and reach out to families about lacking attendance These lists are not exhaustive as new responsibilities arise with the flexibility of parish ministry.

Working Environment:

  • Frequent evening and weekend work. Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.

Requirements:

  • Fully initiate practicing Roman Catholic Passion for the faith and ministering to children and families.
  • Experience in parish children and/or youth ministry.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pray with children, teens, parents, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Excited about children’s ministry.
  • Filled with creative ways in getting students and families passionate about the faith.
  • Proficient with office computer programs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • BA in Theology/Religious Education, related education field.
  • Five years of ministry experience preferred.
  • Spanish speaker would be helpful, since our community is about thirty percent Hispanic.
  • All items listed are performed under the guidance of the Pastor and the Liturgy Team.

Requirements:

  • Supervises assigned grade levels in the parish religious education program (PREP).
  • Supervises or assists with appropriate in-service training and formation of catechists.
  • Leads in the recruitment of catechists, hospitality, and room parent volunteers.
  • Leads in all large group parent sacramental meetings.
  • Track Confirmation and First Eucharist requirements for PREP.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of Confirmation and First Communion retreats.
  • Lead and implements youth ministry Masses, activities, meetings, and service projects.
