Description:

The Religious Education Administrative Assistant works collaboratively with the Director and Assistant Director of Religious Education regarding the administration and operation of the St. Mary Roman Catholic Religious Education Program. Duties and Responsibilities Sacramental • First Reconciliation – First Holy Communion – Confirmation o Assist with the set-up and clean-up of church, church hall, student check-in, etc. o Assist with set-up, serving, and clean-up of luncheon for clergy, volunteers and Religious Education staff. o Assist with the coordination and execution of logistics for retreats, practices and Masses. o Assist with the preparation of materials for retreats, practices and Masses. General Administrative • Maintain listing of all volunteers along with contact information and track substitutes for safe environment purposes. • Collaborate with the assistant DRE in ensuring safe environment compliance for all religious education volunteers prior to their installation. • Manage front desk by answering the phone, maintaining email, and assisting visitors. • Keep front office and supply room organized. • Assist Catechists with copying as requested. • Input and maintain accurate attendance records for RE Students. • Greet Catechists and assist with any requests before each session. • Must support the mission, philosophy and policies of the Roman Catholic Church, school and the Diocese of Joliet. • Support Office Volunteers, Catechists, Catechist Assistants, Director and Assistant Director of Religious Education and Parish Staff. • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications • High school diploma required. College degree preferred. • Commitment to personal faith and the Church. • Evidence of a strong background in clerical work. • Evidence of work history. • Strong planning/organizational/problem solving skills, very detail oriented. • Strong communication skills for written communications and verbal interactions with colleagues, parents, students, volunteers, and all parishioners. • Technology – demonstrates proficiency with or the ability to learn the following computer programs or web-based tools: o Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) o ParishSoft o Flocknote o Google (forms, docs, spreadsheets, etc.) Work Schedule • Position requires 29-30 hours per week. • The Religious Education Administrative Assistant is available for Sacramental events, special events tied to the Office of Religious Education, and other demands as they occur. • The Religious Education Administrative Assistant is present when Religious Education classes are in session. o Flexible Hours: Religious Education classes, Sacramental events, special events tied to the Office of Religious Education, and other demands as they occur will require the Religious Education Administrative Assistant to be present beyond normal business hours multiple days a week.
