About the Staff Accountant position.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepare journal entries on a daily/weekly/monthly basis;
Perform monthly closing procedures;
Prepare monthly financial statement analysis;
Reconcile Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts;
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, 990 tax return preparation and review;
Assist in the budget process;
Audit work paper preparation and review.
Requirements:
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting;
Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience;
Public and/or non-profit industry experience, preferred.
Skills / Knowledge:
Sound leadership skills and the ability to motivate others;
Strong verbal and writing skills;
Strong analytical and reasoning abilities and numeric skills;
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems;
Well -developed financial analysis capabilities;
Demonstrated ability to manage computerize operations and application in finance;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods; able to walk up and down stairs;
Required to occasionally lift/move objects in excess of 20 pounds;
Must have the visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.
Environment and Scheduling:
Work is performed in designated administrative office settings;
Must be flexible and available to work overtime when necessary.
