About the Chief Financial Officer position.
The Chief Financial offer provides leadership for the financial, accounting and facilities operations of Maryville Academy to ensure the achievement of agency plans and objectives.
Essential Functions:
Develops and maintains policies covering accounting, banking, budgetary control, capital equipment, methods and measurements, investment of working capital, tax administration, and insurance;
Develops and administers a system to control and safeguard agency assets through internal and external audit techniques;
Participates in the long and short range planning processes;
Prepares reports of financial information to the Board of directors and any of its committees;
Assures the consistent applications of agency personnel practices and policies;
Works collaboratively with other agency directors in the enhancement and provision of quality youth care services;
Directs Risk Management functions as regards insurance renewals;
Coordinates and approves all of Maryville’s leases and contracts regarding properties;
Performs other work related duties and/or special projects as assigned by the Executive Director;
Participates in continued performance quality improvement;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's of Science in Accounting required; Masters in Business Administration preferred;
CPA required.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
Ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization;
Ability to interact with non-financial operations managers, communicating relevant financial and cost measures in non-technical terms;
Knowledge of accepted accounting principles, working knowledge of non-profit accounting systems;
Knowledge, experience and practical understanding of the program services and operational aspects of Maryville.
Physical Demands:
Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, sometimes for extended periods; ability to walk up and down stairs;
Required to lift/ move objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds;
Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.
Environment and Scheduling:
Work is performed in administrative office as well as in association with group home settings;
Duties may involve contact with youth who may be threatening, aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol;
Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
