Description:
Holy Trinity High School is seeking a full-time U.S. Government & World History Teacher.
Job Responsibilities:
Specific to this position:
-Teach three to four sections of Government & Law; two to three at regular level, and one honors level course
-Teach two sections of World History
-Be able to teach how government and law function
-Teach how civilizations and people have evolved throughout history
-Teach how specific groups of people have contributed to American history and World History, including Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, etc.
-Work collaboratively with the History/Social Studies Department to adapt and improve curriculum
Applicable to all teachers:
-Teach a schedule of classes and perform other assigned duties as determined by the School such as: conduct a homeroom program, supervise the cafeteria, supervise study groups, be available for student tutorial assistance and consultation, accept substitution duty when needed, and supervise assigned student workers.
-Be involved in leading and organizing after school activities/clubs.
-Maintain accurate attendance records for all teaching and supervisory periods.
-Supervise hallways and common areas during all passing periods and at dismissal.
-Communicate on a regular basis with parents/guardians and sponsors regarding their student's progress.
-Keep abreast of new developments in educational research and teaching field through conferences, journals, workshops, etc.
-Attend and participate in all faculty meetings.
-Fully participate in the school improvement process.
-Provide supervision at extracurricular events as needed. All Faculty and Staff must supervise at least three athletic events per year, one per season and one social event per semester.
-Provide for academic tutoring for students at risk of failure.
-Provide for a safe and controlled environment conducive to the learning process.
-Uphold all policies as outlined in the Student Agenda and Employee Handbook.
-Substitute for peers as needed.
-Plan and implement lessons congruent to curriculum guidelines.
-Attend Fall Parent Meeting/Back-to-School Night, Parent-Teacher/Employee Conferences, and other mandatory events.
-Maintain or work toward completing certification if required
-Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Administration.
Requirements:
Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree or higher
-Preferably hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), with an endorsement in History, World History or related endorsement
-Ability to teach a wide range of History/Social Studies Courses
