Description:

Responsibilities: Campus ministry; Outreach to IIT, ICO, Shimer, Vandercook and other related area colleges: provide promotional flyers and attend orientations and information forums; Connect the Students in the liturgical ministry and spiritual life of St. James; Promote spiritual formation and religious education of the students through retreats, student-led prayer, special presentations, etc. Promote service experiences, especially to the food pantry and De La Salle. Connect with the larger campus community: campus staff and specific populations such as athletes, ROTC and Greek life. Provide opportunities for fellowship among the students through socials, etc. Be available for pastoral counselling as needed by individual students. Collaborate through the CCM recognized student organizations. Organize fund-raising efforts to support campus ministry. Maintain a data base of students; Coordinate Parish vitality, Faith formation and religious education. Organize faith formation and religious education for adults through retreats, days of recollection, lectures, short courses, etc. Oversee the catechists who are working with children and catechists who are offering RCIA and adult Confirmation; Coordinate the sacramental preparation of children; Assist in Baptismal preparation of children, parents, and Godparents; Fellowship; Liaison with Hospitality committee; Overseeing social events including St. James Day, African-American Heritage Day, Oktoberfest, St. Francis Xavier day, Christmas Tree party; Overseeing parish fellowship after Sunday liturgies; Celebrate the diversity in the parish; Promote the involvement of Young Adults in the parish; Evangelization; Liaison with the Evangelization Committee; Manage the parish website and promote use of social media; Promote awareness of the parish through advertising, flyers, etc.; Connect with visitors and new parishioners to ensure a proper welcome; Administrative; Participate in staff meetings; Work within budgets and keep accurate records of payments; Conduct research to ensure proper planning; Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Practicing Catholic; Graduate level pastoral education or equivalent experience. Ability to work promoting the spiritual life of college-aged young adults. Collaborate with people in ministry and in a pastoral team. Excellent communication skills.
