The Manager of Facilities and Construction has oversight responsibility for managing new construction, renovations, and maintenance of properties owned by the Archdiocese of Chicago throughout Cook and Lake Counties. Properties include all parish buildings (churches, schools, rectories, convents, halls) in addition to two Pastoral Center buildings housing the central administration offices of the Archdiocese. The position manages a staff of seven architects and engineers, involves working with parish committees on their construction projects, and overseeing major projects. Responsibilities also include providing guidance regarding the construction process; master plans, selection of architects and contractors, the design process, project administration, and close out. Must be knowledgeable regarding with all aspects of building maintenance, including for properties of historical significance.


BS in Engineering, Architecture or related field; MS preferred. 15 years exp in a corporate services or project management accountability role with min 5 years managing staff and budgets. Proven leadership ability, technical background and project responsibility exp. Min 10 years Architectural, Engineering or Construction management. Possess a general understanding of industry standards, building systems, base building construction, corporate management, urban planning, architecture, life safety code, office tech, and environmental factors. Additional Skills: Respect and support of Catholic Church teachings. Ability to assist Archdiocesan administration by offering vision, direction and strategy to best utilize, manage, improve and maintain the Archdiocese’ large portfolio of disparate properties. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
