Position Summary: 


As Pastoral Accompaniment Leader, this person leads the development and implementation of the pastoral accompaniment approach for Renew My Church. Pastoral accompaniment will focus on developing companions to accompany all stakeholders during the Renew My Church process, with dedicated support during the Grouping Team discernment and Operations Transition. 



  • Develops pastoral accompaniment approach for Renew My Church groupings 
  • Participates as a member of the Renew My Church Core Team 
  • Develops the Companion ministry through all stages of the process.  
  • Cultivates resources which will be needed at various times during the planning and transition process 
  • Develops a plan for engaging individuals, sub-groups (e.g., parish staffs), and the wide community as appropriate 
  • Works collaboratively with leadership who will focus on priest support 
  • Liaises with the Office for Divine Worship for liturgical and ritual transitions 
  • Liaises with Office of Catholic Schools for school-related pastoral accompaniment needs 
  • Liaises with Communications to respond to inquiries / complaints submitted to archdiocesan offices  
  • Oversees implementation  
  • Recruits, trains and supervises the companions who will work directly with groupings through the accompaniment phase 
  • Manages the resources who will work directly with groupings through the accompaniment phase 
  • Engages directly with groupings to understand the movement of the Spirit and group dynamics throughout the process 
  • Evaluates effectiveness of approach and updates for future groupings 






  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Advanced degree in pastoral ministry, counseling, psychology, or related field; Advanced degree in theology is preferred. 


  • Experience with pastoral accompaniment, counseling; and managing staff and/or consultants 


  • Experience working for a Catholic parish or institution with pastoral/ministerial duties; Experience with institutional reconfiguration, structural change, or strategic planning; Lay Ecclesial Minister, Experience in discernment and process facilitation 


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • High level of discretion in dealing with confidential information  
  • Flexibility 
  • Strategic thinker 
  • Bilingual Spanish and/or Polish skills desired.
