Basic Functions

Responsible for overseeing all Young Adult Engagement (YAE) communications which include but not limited to, developing the communications strategy for the office, managing the internal communications, external communications, the YAE web site, social media, marketing and all bulletins and publications. Ensures that information is distributed in a timely manner, makes proactive recommendations and collaborates other agencies and ministries of the Archdiocese on communication materials. Develops all communications content within budget parameters and in a manner reflecting the mission and message of the Catholic Church.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and implements a Communications strategy in conjunction with the Office of Young Adult Engagement, the Office of Parish Vitality and Mission, Department of Communications and Archdiocesan leadership. *
  2. Collaborate with those agencies and ministries that produce internal communications collateral.*
  3. Works closely with Department of Communications in collateral development.
  4. Participates in archdiocesan-wide Communications planning. *
  5. Responsible for completing multiple projects in a timely manner.
  6. Recommends the use of specialized vendors to assist in collateral development and distribution.
  7. Manages the development and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets for Department communications. *
  8. Continually evaluates content of communication collateral and recommends to the Director of Media Relations, changes in marketing strategy.
  9. Responsible for the construction of marketing collateral prototypes. *
  10. Monitors and assesses effectiveness of marketing collateral.
  11. Carries out various assignments as called upon by the Director of the Office of Young Adult Engagement, the Office of the Archbishop of Chicago and/or Senior Administrative staff.
  12. Other assignments and responsibilities as directed.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications. Master's degree in fine arts and communications or graphic design preferred
  • 3+ years of Marketing Communications experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
  • Demonstrated high order communication skills: written, oral and listening.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including ability to manage complex responsibilities.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced competency with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong skills in using social media outlets (eg, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • Flexibility and strong ability to multi-task.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage projects from conception through completion.
  • Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values
