Believing our faith, proclaiming the Gospel

Each year in the Archdiocese hundreds of catechetical leaders gather for two days at the Chicago Catechetical Conference to enrich their faith lives and recommit to passing on the faith to others. Those who attend learn new techniques to teach religious education or deepen their understanding of a lived faith. Or they might come away with a renewed sense of their call to spread the Gospel around them.

The conference, which will be held October 25 and 26, draws hundreds of religious educators who work or volunteer their time to pass on the faith to children, teenagers or adults. They come from small and large parishes and Catholic schools. Some journey from outside of the Archdiocese to see all that the Archdiocese of Chicago has to offer catechetical leaders, youth ministers, and parish leaders. They may have dozens of years of experience or were asked by their pastor to consider a new ministry. They come wanting to deepen their prayer life.

This year, will include many offerings available over two days in October. Our theme of Believe, Deepen, Proclaim was chosen to highlight the individual’s invitation to renew his/her faith life. This is the year of Strong Catholic Parents in the Archdiocese and we want to support our parents as much as possible. We know as educators that you can only share and teach what you know. And what better way to continue teaching the faith, than deepening your own.

Our keynote speakers this year include – Dr. Carole Eipers, Mark Friedman, Rev. Juan Luis Calderon and Rev. Sebastian Jankowski. Francis Cardinal George, OMI will give an address on Friday.

About 2,000 people are expected to attend this event which will be held October 25 and 26 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook. This prayerful and joyful conference is open to all. For information or to sign up go to
