50 Years of Faithfulness

On September 22 I will have the honor of welcoming this year's golden Jubilarians to the annual Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass. The beautiful Mass will be held at Holy Name Cathedral with Cardinal George as the main celebrant.

Each of the 380 couples attending has had a different marriage journey since they married in 1963. Most were blessed with children and then grandchildren, others were not. Some have had surprisingly good health all these years while others have had to endure sickness or addiction as a constant companion. While many had successful careers and steady employment for others it has been a constant struggle.

Despite the many differences they will all come together to celebrate 50 years of faithful marriage. With hard work and the grace of God, and perhaps a bit of luck these husbands and wives once again renew the vows they spoke fifty years ago.—"I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."

Congratulations to this year's Jubilarian couples. In this day and age with marriage under attack it is heartening to see so many couples who have successfully lived the beautiful sacrament of marriage. You can see videos of these couples here.
