The Archdiocese of Chicago Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

The Catholic Schools Week national theme of "Catholic Schools Raise the Standards" cuts to the heart of our reality in the Archdiocese of Chicago. (cf Annual Report). In the Catholic Schools of Cook and Lake Counties, our standards have come under intense scrutiny. In order to draft a strategic plan soon to be published by the AOC School Board, every single school was examined. It is more than the "big picture": each school site plays a part. Every school community details their local plans by showcasing excellence as only students, parents, teachers, and administrators can do - offering just a small glimpse of the daily excellence of our schools during Catholic Schools Week.

In the meantime, the Office of Catholic Schools has attended to Catholic Identity in terms of content, training, and parish-school relationship. Work with academics is validated by national standards. Access and enrollment are fueled by the goodness of the Catholic community.

My best advice? Go see a Catholic grade or high school in action this week. Raise the standards with your engagement. Celebrate Christ's love made visible in the walls that love built and maintains.
