Celebrating the Golden Year

Marilyn and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary in August. We received many supportive comments from family and friends both in person and on Facebook. It was very nice.

But the big story is not 37 years, but 50 years! On September 23, the Family Ministries Office will be hosting the annual Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass at Holy Name Cathedral! This year we will be inviting over 400 Jubilarian couples who have signed up through their parish and would like to attend this year’s Mass and celebration.

Think of all these couples have experienced since they said, “I do” back in 1962. Many have children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Then have undoubtedly experienced the wonderful pleasures of marriage as well as the inevitable difficulties that are a part of marriage. But through it all their love for one another and faith in God and each other have brought them to this special day.

Blessings to all of this year’s Golden Jubilarian couples. Congratulations on a job well done.

The Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese of Chicago have asked all concerned to say the prayer asking for Father Tolton's intercession specifically for the intention of the Cardinal's health and healing as he undergoes chemotherapy during the next four months.
