Description:

The Director of Infrastructure and Facilities Operations role supports and promotes initiatives and decisions that fulfill the mission and operation of the Parish, through strategic and operational excellence of all church office support functions, technology, and by ensuring all parish facilities (church and school) are effectively maintained, in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines. This role has responsibility for performing, and managing others to execute on, related tasks. The person directs these efforts with technical expertise within a framework of shared ministry, stewardship, and Catholic values.

Responsible for successful execution of all parish facilities functions including, but not limited to:

• Manages the Director of Facilities. Second tier management of other custodial and maintenance staff for all parish facilities.

• May personally perform some tasks to ensure effective maintenance of all Parish facilities.

• In conjunction with the Director of Facilities, makes assessments as to needed capital repairs, places them in their relative priorities for accomplishment, and then makes pertinent recommendations to the Pastor. This should include a maintenance project and PM plan for the physical plant.

• Ensures that all repairs, renovations, and capital projects are accomplished in accordance with diocesan guidelines, and all local, city and state requirements. Acts as a liaison with local government agencies.

• In conjunction with facilities staff, secures bids for projects and maintains relationship with regularly used vendors/outside contracts.

• Serves as a resource for the Building and Grounds committee and provides project status at committee meetings.

• Responsible for parish security, leasing, rental, and use of parish facilities.

Responsible for successful execution of office support functions including, but not limited to:

• Responsible for IT infrastructure and key software purchases for church and school. Manages contract providers, consultants, and vendors for both the school and church.

• Makes IT recommendations for improved efficiencies and enhanced technology capabilities.

• Manage the FT, PT or “as needed” office staff.

• Direct, supervise, and coordinate all administrative and support activities of the parish. Examples are, ordering of supplies, maintaining equipment like mail postage machines or printers, and securing equipment needed by the staff, e.g., phones, chairs, and desks.

• Ensure the day-to-day actions of reception staff aligns with a welcoming, helpful, and supportive experience for all who interface with them.

• Ministry Support: ensure that all assigned support activities, e.g., wedding coordination and scheduling Baptisms are handled effectively. • Supports or manages special projects, e.g., support fundraising initiatives, data collection, file management, outreach to parishioners and to ensure adequate administrative support is available to the Pastor or Associate Pastors.

• Manage all aspects of the office’s space/infrastructure planning (moves, adds, and changes to workstations).

• All other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of building and grounds, facilities and maintenance practices and requirements. Knowledgeable about city, state, federal regulations, and requirements.

• Able to personally support building and grounds personnel to address complicated issues. Has the expertise to evaluate task effectiveness of staff and vendors.

• Excellent knowledge of technology applications and infrastructure. Able to identify “next generation” enhancements of software or hardware.

• Strong verbal and written communications, organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills.

• A minimum of 3 years successfully performing similar functions in a related role.

• Successful experience managing office and facility staff.

• Desire and ability to quickly learn to use technology tools.

• Excellent organizational and time management competencies.

• Good management skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Able to identify issues and propose recommendations/solutions.

• Strong drive to achieve results.

• Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values.

• Experience with a not-for-profit organization or in Church management is a plus.
