Description:
St. Frances of Rome Parish in Cicero, IL is searching for a Director of Religious Education (DRE) to begin in late May or early June, 2019. The DRE has direct subordinates, catechists and volunteers. The DRE articulates and implements a plan for comprehensive religious education in light of the parish vision and mission and archdiocesan policies. Collaborates with the Pastor, members of parish staff, and the parish school. Manages and oversees the planning, administration, budgeting and record keeping of parish catechetical programs, including RCIA. Manages recruitment, orientation, supervision and evaluation of catechists and other catechetical personnel. Provides ongoing formation opportunities and spiritual development for catechists and catechetical personnel.
Requirements:
Fluent in both English and Spanish. BS or BA, with major in theology, catechesis, education, pastoral studies, or other relevant to position. Previous work in the field of education, administration, management, program / level coordinator, training of volunteer catechists, youth ministers and or other ministers. Good interpersonal skills to deal both parishioners and staff members. An ability to manage and negotiate conflict. Good organization skills. Knowledge and skill in using computers along with specific knowledge in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. Proficient typing skills. Capable of keeping good records. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality. Self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, anticipating and accomplishing in advance what needs to be done. Capable of working a flexible schedule with evening and weekend hours required.
