Description:

Work closely with the pastor, under his supervision, and with the other parish staff members, in the overall pastoral ministry of the parish. Work closely with the pastor, under his supervision, in the process of parish administration, including: future needs assessment, planning, decision making, implementation, communication, budget assessment and facilities operation. Give assistance to the pastor in the selection of new staff members and primary volunteers and volunteer leaders. Attend all staff meetings, except as excluded by the pastor. Be present and available for major parish functions and liturgies on a regular basis, based on staffing requirements and mutual agreement with the pastor. Work with the spiritual development of all ministries and, at the request of the pastor, assist in special spiritual functions for the parish. Prepare the mass announcements and “Prayers of the Faithful” for Sunday and special masses. Coordinate the instruction, training and scheduling of liturgical ministries (Ministers, Lectors, Altar Linens, Ushers, Art & Environment and Altar Servers). Work to expand the number of parishioners involved in all areas of parish life, especially committees, councils and ministries. Work with the Coordinator of Religious Education in the planning of sacramental programs and prayer instruction for youth and families. Assist in planning wake services and funeral liturgies, as requested by the Ministry of Consolation and the pastor and participate in these functions as requested by the pastor. Coordinate marriage and baptismal preparation, scheduling, and pre-sacramental documentation. Act as initial contact and liaison for the Marriage Tribunal and marriage and annulment issues. Act as a liaison person between the pastor and the ministry of care program and, as time, permits, participate in visitation and bringing of viaticum to the sick and homebound.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree relevant to position, such in pastoral studies, religious education, theology, etc. preferred. Previous experience as Pastoral Associate in any diocese or previous experience as a professional administrator in other part time or full time ministry such as education, catechesis, nursing, social work, religious formation, or community administration required. Previous experience as a parish volunteer or professional administrator in other part time or full time ministry such as education, catechesis, nursing, social work, religious formation, or community administration preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Effectively communicate written and orally. Skilled in public relations. Manage and negotiate conflict. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
