Description:

Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, lighting, mechanical, etc. in all parish facilities. Oversees grounds keeping activities, including the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, the removal of snow and trash. Makes minor repairs to buildings and equipment as required, utilizing basic skills and knowledge in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, and painting work. Duties and Responsibilities include: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing; *Performs maintenance service and small repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry; Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job; *Performs and/or coordinates by outside contractors routine service work for preventive activities: safety inspections, pest management, and mechanical preventive maintenance on facility systems; Responsible for cleaning, polishing, painting, maintaining light fixtures, trim, surfaces, rooms, hallways, restrooms, stairways, floors, etc.; Installation, removal, and cleaning of air conditioning window units, replacement of batteries for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and light bulbs as necessary; Primarily responsible for performing on-site routine services including installation, maintenance, and repair aided by staff or volunteers when available; *Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, mechanical, etc.; Consult Operations Director on the purchasing of items in advance, including materials required for facility upgrades and for upkeep of grounds; *Ensure parish machinery is well maintained and that maintenance procedures are followed. Utilize existing information and schedules and develop additional schedules where needed; Support snow removal needs during the winter season to ensure safe conditions for all parishioners and school personnel and visitors. Extra seasonal required landscaping of grounds may be needed; May be requested to clean, as needed, the church and rooms used for religious education, parish social services, and any meetings; *May be requested to perform general labor and tasks such as sweeping, trash removal, and cleaning with strong attention to detail. This includes areas that may need to be cleaned daily, weekly, and monthly; *Replenishes toiletry supplies, sets up for activities in church, school, and parish facilities; May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of position.

Requirements:

Working knowledge of general High School matter including basic Math and English skills required. High school graduate, GED, or equivalent preferred. Three years of experience in maintenance or a related area required. Five years of experience in maintenance or a related area preferred. Ability to communicate in spoken word and written in English. Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds maintenance. Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, machine servicing, or electrical required. Familiarity in basic PC skills: email, internet access preferred. Other Required: *Valid Driver’s license. Lift, push/pull 50lbs. Climb ladders and stairs as necessary, including accessing roof structures up to 30’. Availability to work overtime as needed. Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
