Description:

St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lake Forest, Illinois is seeking a full-time Youth Ministry Coordinator. This person will provide the vision and hands-on approach to the outreach of the parish's middle schoolers and high schoolers as well as oversee the Confirmation program and catechesis. The Youth Minister Coordinator builds outstanding, trusting relationships with our parish youth and parents to achieve the highest engagement levels possible into the Youth Ministry programs. The ideal candidate possesses an intimate knowledge of the Catholic faith, has the desire to evangelize youth in a way that appeals to today's younger generations, is energetic, confident, self-motivated, has experience in current and emerging social media practices, excellent communication skills, and is passionate about forming youth in our faith and community. Coordination and collaboration with staff members and parishioners is crucial. Candidates must possess the ability to grow involvement and build relationships designed to increase youth participation in the Youth Ministry programs. This individual must also be open to flexible working hours that involve evenings, weekends, and special events as necessary. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and implement youth ministry programs that appeal to our parish youth and parents in the areas of fellowship, discipleship, worship, mission, and outreach. • Work in partnership with the staff, parents, and various advisors to effectively reach youth in the community and develop a strategic youth ministry outreach plan. • Evaluate the vision and goals of our Youth Ministry programs by directing monthly and/or annual planning sessions with youth, an advisory panel, staff, and parents. • Oversee the entire Confirmation Program and planning all aspects of it. • Lead a summer mission trip geared toward 9th-12th graders. • Responsible for effective planning and budgeting of Youth Ministry. • Hold various parish fundraising efforts to support the Youth Ministry programs and position them for long-term financial sustainability. • Keep accurate records of participation in the Youth Ministry programs. • Communicate in a timely and effective manner to our youth and parents using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, social media, etc.). • Collaborate with other youth ministers in the local region, especially those in the parishes within our Renew My Church grouping, to seek out the best opportunities towards continued formation and program development. • Listen to parental and youth feedback about our Youth Ministry programs and makes adjustments as needed to grow participation and engagement. • Be a role model and spiritual leader with our parish youth so they mature into responsible and caring Catholic adults. • Engage with youth in a variety of ways (i.e. lunch at school, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, etc.). • Disciple and mentor a core-team of youth to share in the leadership of Youth Ministry, and who could assist in leading youth ministry events, outreach, retreats etc., and organizing summer activities. • Be a liaison between our parish and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to our youth.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Theology or related field. Firm knowledge of "best practices" in Youth Ministry, Confirmation, and catechesis. At least two (2) years' experience in a Youth Ministry or related role at a Catholic Church. Completion of Virtus and all other programs sponsored through the Archdiocese that are required to engage with youth. Fully initiated, participating member of the Roman Catholic Church. Possess a thorough knowledge of, and commitment to, the teachings, beliefs, and life of the Catholic Church. Energetic personality with the ability to generate enthusiasm about our Youth Ministry programs. Ability to work with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a teamwork mentality. Fluent in current social media practices and technology platforms that youth embrace. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to relate to and work well with people, including priests, lay adults and youth. Must be able to accommodate for a flexible working schedule that include evenings, weekends, and special events. Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point.
