Description:
Saint Clement Church in Chicago is seeking a part-time musician who is enthusiastic and excited about sharing the love of Christ through music with our children during Children’s Liturgy of the Word every Sunday from 9:15am-10:15am. This position reports directly to the Director of Children and Family Catechesis. This position will begin Sunday, September 10th and runs weekly through June 30th. The musician will receive a stipend for each week of their service.
Requirements:
Proficiency in playing either: Guitar or Piano and leading children in singing.
Ability to sight read sheet music or – guitar tab. Experience teaching music in a Christian environment. Familiarity and experience with working with children age 4-8. Familiarity with the Catholic Mass and age-appropriate liturgical music to help children enter into the Liturgy of the Word (Responsorial Psalm, Alleluia, etc). Strong communication skills with children, catechists (adult leaders), and staff. Ability to use music to deepen the children’s worship experience and understanding of God.
Responsibilities: Report directly to Director of Children & Family Catechesis.
Position will require approximately 1 hour per week on Sundays. Attend regular Children’s Liturgy of the Word planning and formation meetings (2x a year).
