Description:
Rehearsal and Mass Accompanist for Adult Choir, Children’s Choir and Small Ensemble. The Adult Choir sings from early September through end of May. Rehearsals: Tuesday evenings, 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Saturday Liturgy 4:30pm Mass (3:30 pm call). Sunday Liturgy: 10:00am Mass (8:45am call). Accompanist for Adult Choir for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Holydays of Obligation (when the parish choir sings), First Communion, Confirmation, Graduation, and other liturgical celebrations at which the Adult Choir sings. Substitute accompanist at additional liturgies, when needed (ie, weekend liturgies, funerals, weddings). Requirements:
Highly-Proficient on keyboard (Clavinova); able to effectively lead congregation through hymn playing.
Excellent sight-reading skills are expected; ability to play individual parts from choral score or chord/lead sheet; comfortable with teaching parts and leading pre-service rehearsal (when needed) The choir sings all types of sacred music from classical to gospel/spiritual to contemporary.
Understanding and familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy and rituals.
