Description:

This position will be reporting to the pastor and principal. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, etc. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas and removal of snow and trash. Makes minor repairs to equipment as required. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing. Perform general labor and tasks such as sweeping, trash removal and cleaning with strong attention to details. This includes areas that may need to be cleaned daily, weekly and monthly. Dust empty wastebaskets wash walls, windows, doors, replenishes toiletry supplies, sets up for activities. Mops, strips, waxes floors, vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas, using equipment such as mops, vacuum, buffer, and shampooer as needed. Responsible for cleaning, polishing, painting, maintaining light fixtures, trim, surfaces, rooms, hallways, restrooms, stairways, floors etc. Install and remove air conditioning window units, replace batteries for smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and light bulbs as necessary. Clean weekly as needed the church, gym, school and all rooms used for religious education, parish social services and any meetings. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, etc. by performing preventive inspections looking for potential problems and notifies supervisor(s). Attend Facilities Committee meetings, weekly staff meetings and the appropriate deanery meetings. Consult pastor, principal and/or business manager on the purchasing of items in advance required upgrades for upkeep of grounds. Prepare the maintenance budget to submit to Finance Council, including regular supplies, renewable contracts, necessary repairs, preventive maintenance and salaries. Perform snow removal during the winter season and seasonal required landscaping of grounds. Help with larger projects and cover for the maintenance staff when they are on vacation or as needed. May be given various other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of the position. Schedule 7am to 4pm Monday thru Friday. 8 hours a day with 1 hr unpaid lunch. If interested please send resume to stsylvester@gmail.com This is a full-time Non-exempt benefits eligible position.

Requirements:

Education Required: Working knowledge of general High School courses, including basic Math and English skills. Education Preferred: High School graduate, GED or equivalent. Three years’ experience in maintenance or related area required; Five years’ experience in maintenance or related area preferred. Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures of facilities and grounds maintenance. Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing or electrical. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift, push/pull 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs as necessary is required, as is availability to work overtime as needed.
