Description:
The Director of Young Adult Ministry & Community Outreach is responsible for supporting the efforts of the parish in the direct ministry to young adults and leading parish community outreach and service projects. The Director provides formation resources and coordinates a strong and engaged community. The Director will support, accompany, and equip the parish community to effectively serve and engage in community outreach projects. The Director recognizes the dignity of all life, builds solidarity in the human community, and brings Christ to those beyond the Catholic community through the witness of missionary discipleship.
Responsibilities Young Adult Ministry:
•Guides Young Adult Board with intentional formation and community building opportunities within the Young Adult Community.
•Fosters dialogue and community building with other parish ministry groups.
•Oversees development of leaders within the Young Adult Community.
Community Outreach Ministry:
•Maintains relationships with area organizations and coordinates volunteer opportunities and collection requests with those organizations. Recruits and maintains volunteer records.
•Outreach to the homeless to include Friday sack lunches and hospitality, HUGS drive, and annual Christmas dinner.
•Organizes and oversees a Spring parish-wide Service Day.
•Organizes and oversees an Advent Jesse Tree ministry.
•Maintains relationship with sister parish in El Salvador (including trips & Romero Scholarship) & sharing parish, Our Lady of Mercy.
Requirements:
•Passionate about and committed to the Mission of the Catholic Church, Saint Clement and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
•Demonstrates understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
•Practicing Catholic.
•M.A. or M.Div. Degree in Theology, Faith Formation, or Young Adult Ministry preferred.
•Minimum three years of experience in teaching, organizing, or administering experience in Young Adult Ministry or Outreach on a Parish level.
•Ability to engage with others and communicate effectively in person and in writing.
•Detail oriented and able to work independently.
•Experience with project management, communications and organizing volunteers.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to initiate and develop open, respectful, positive and cooperative relationships.
•Able to organize workflow and manage variety of tasks concurrently.
•Available for weekends and evenings.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
