Description:
- The Director of Music and Liturgy plans, manages, and oversees all liturgical celebrations.
- Serves as Choir and Liturgy Director and participates as an active member of the staff and Liturgy Team.
- Creates and manages the music ministry budget.
- Position is full-time, benefits eligible, salary commensurate with education and experience. Stipends for weddings and funerals supplement salary.
Requirements:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates all parish and school Liturgies and Services (including, but not limited to, Sunday Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, weddings, funerals, prayer and penance services, etc.)
2. Collaborates with Pastoral Staff on Liturgies and Special Events.
3. Develops, directs, and trains cantors, adult, teen, and children’s choirs and instrumentalists.
4. Manage and Create Music Ministry Budget.
5. Encourages full, active and conscious participation of the assembly in worship..
6. Provides leadership of other liturgical ministers (Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers) in a timely fashion.
7. Supports pastor’s vision in being and forming Catholic disciples in the parish.
8. Prepares liturgical worship aids as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Possesses strong vocal, piano and organ skills
• 3-5 years experience leading a church music program along with an advanced knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and role of music therein.
• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music, Advanced Degree preferred.
• Proficiency in piano and/or organ, and directing.
• Highly organized, detail- oriented, and creative.
• Ability to work weekends and some evenings.
