Description:

Overview of the Position: The Parish Business Manager is a professional administrator who reports to the Pastor and functionally to the Director of Vicariate Operations. The Business Manager assists the Pastor with the stewardship to the financial and human resources of the Parish, in accordance with Archdiocesan policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare budget(s), annual report, interim reports, general ledgers and other monthly reports. Bank relations- including management of chart of accounts and troubleshooting/problem solving (working with Secretary- training, per the Pastor).

• [Oversee Only] All bookkeeping functions including payables and receivables and all other parish and school revenue and expenses (working with Secretary- training, per the Pastor).

• Manage Parish stewardship (increased offertory program(s) & GiveCentral), School and Religious Education collections, capital campaigns/pledge drives, and facilitate fundraising for both the Parish and the School.

• Support and Assist in all school financial matters, including tuition setting, tuition collection and the financial aid process.

• Staff liaison to Parish Finance Council – create and distribute all financial reports

• Staff liaison to Parish Council

• Ensure that all federal, state and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.

• Manage major repair, renovation and capital projects in accordance with Archdiocesan policies (working with Maintenance staff/Arch Facilities & Construction dept- per the Pastor).

• Manages custodial and maintenance functions (when necessary/liaison to Union Reps).

• Resource for the buildings & grounds committee

• Schedule meeting space- working with Secretary & calendaring

• [Oversee Only] Manage oversight of Parish weekly Bulletin and website for content and compliance as necessary.

• Manage parish security, leasing, rental, use of parish facilities, and liaison to local government agencies

• Liaison to Archdiocesan administration & Parish Operations

• Implement Archdiocesan personnel policies: develop/maintain hiring and termination procedures, Open Enrollment and EEO Reports for administrative and support staff.

• Management/administration of all payroll and benefits.

• Manage parish office as needed- working with Secretary- training, per the Pastor.

• Oversee implementation & maintenance of the guidelines and policies of staff/volunteers- in accordance with Arch compliance guidelines.

• Oversee the maintenance of the parish census information for the database files.

• Handle/maintain all parish operational and financial record

• Oversee information technology (computer, telephone, etc.).

• Attend meetings relative to Business Management, such as parish staff meetings, Business Managers meetings, Deanery, Vicariate and Archdiocesan meetings.

• Direct purchasing procedures.

• Interact with School Principal and Religious Education Director on administrative and budget/financial matters.

• Manage/maintain safety and security issues.

• Support mission/purpose of the Church and Parish.

• Manage personnel issues, including policy implementation, procedure management, benefits, federal and state laws and labor laws.

• Knowledgeable of parish policies and guidelines in relationship to Archdiocesan policies, best practices and guidelines.

• All other issues/concerns/needs of the Pastor.

Requirements:

• Undergraduate Degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum two years in an Accounting or Finance role within a Parish or business entity.

• Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.

• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of accounting principles.

• Experience in Human Resources practices, including people leadership, interviewing and selection, policy application, and employment practices laws.

• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Strong verbal and written communications, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work in a team environment and has a "Service Mindset" when working with others.

• Able to identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate issues and situations and propose and implement recommendations/solutions.

• Can be entrusted with highly confidential information

• Strong drive to achieve results.

• Able to travel to other Archdiocesan locations.
