Description:
- The Youth Minster at St. Edna Parish is commissioned with the responsibility of evangelizing the young people of the Parish by deepening their relationship with The Trinity, the Church, and their Catholic faith. This can be accomplished by building trusting relationships with the youth of the community, and ministering in close collaboration with the pastoral staff and lay leadership of the parish.
- The Youth Minister should have a broad pastoral vision, be firmly rooted in the Catholic faith and capable of communicating the faith to others.
- Will be expected to organize, develop and direct a program that includes middle school and high school students, and provide leadership and stewardship training for the students and adult moderators.
- Other programs that are part of Youth Minister's duties include the annual Kairos Retreat, Summer Mission Trip, and Lenten Living Stations.
- The Sacramental Preparation program for high school students seeking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is also part of this position.
- The Youth Minister is also charged with collaborating with community, ecumenical, Deanery, Archdiocesan and National networks of professional peers and youth offices.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Pastoral Ministry, Youth Ministry, Theology or related discipline. Youth Ministry Certification from the Archdiocese of Chicago or currently working toward this Certification. Prior experience in Youth Ministry is desired.
