Job Title:

Director of Religious Education Bi-Lingual (English-Spanish)

Description:

Articulate and implement a plan for comprehensive religious education in light of the parish vision and mission and the archdiocesan policies. Collaborate with Pastor, members of parish and staff and Education Commission and RE Advisory Group. Manage and oversee the planning, administration, budgeting and record keeping of parish catechetical programs. Manage recruitment, orientation, supervision and evaluation of catechists and other catechetical personnel. Provide ongoing formation opportunities and spiritual development for catechists and catechetical personnel.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Recruit, supervise and schedule 90+ catechists and aides, substitutes and office volunteers.

2. Coordinate Child Religious Education - includes sacramental preparation

3. Organizes and conducts parent meetings for orientation and each sacrament

4. Provide catechetical certification stats to the Arch.

5. Meet with catechists at every grade level to discuss and evaluate curriculum and procedures.

6. Coordinator of RCIA for the parish.

7. Coordinate and facilitate archdiocesan Safe Environment programs for children

8. Supply catechists with information of training/workshops/meetings available to foster their faith

9. Keep financial books in Excel. Collect tuition in conjunction with support staff. Work out financial payment plans and send out statements and reminders.

10. Maintain School Reach site in conjunction with support staff.

11. Cover class time hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

12. Prepare handbooks, newsletters, liturgical books, worship aids, event reminders and reply to mail in English/Spanish.

13. Supervise department secretaries.

14. Arrange for retreat speakers, volunteers and materials

15. Assist Liturgy Minister in preparing liturgy for sacramental and other Masses and prayer services.

16. Organize Confirmation service projects and coordinate interviews with active parishioners.

17. Organize sacramental receptions and luncheons in conjunction with support staff.

18. Prepare banners to display in church as sacraments are made

Requirements:

Education Required: BS or BA, non-religious major, Archdiocesan Catechist Certification. Education preferred: Master's Degree in Religious Education, Theology, Pastoral Studies. Advanced Certificate in Catechetical Leadership, Religious Education or Youth Ministry. Experience required: Previous work in the field of education, administration, management, program/level coordinator, training of volunteer catechists or youth ministers. Experience preferred: Catechetical leadership experience in any diocese, parish or Catholic school. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Effectively communicate written and orally. Skilled in public relations. Manage and negotiate conflict skills. Required: Bi-Lingual English/Spanish
