Catholic Charities of Chicago is searching for an accomplished communicator to develop, implement and manage the employee communications function for the organization. Summary of the Position: With a lens toward celebrating and lifting up Catholic Charities highly diverse staff, leaning into the values of increasing equity and fostering belonging and voice, the Communications Manager will develop and lead the internal communication efforts for the organization. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working with various teams, the Communication Manager will develop an effective program providing clear messaging and assist in translating and promoting the Executive vision internally. This role will be the catalyst in generating internal communications throughout the entire organization and lead multiple programs simultaneously. Responsibilities Include: • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to leadership and provide counsel on issues management, message development and change communications. Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute targeted communications plans to achieve desired outcome. Develop and execute internal stakeholder engagement plans. • Collaborate with the Communications department to understand and ensure consistency in approach and messaging for all stakeholders. • Lead cross-functional project teams for major initiatives and key projects to ensure integrated communication strategies and tactical plans that address stakeholder needs. • Develop messages, content, and materials to support overall communications strategy, organizational priorities, initiatives, and projects. • Recommend, plan, and ensure availability of a variety of internal communication mediums and channels (intranet, newsletters, apps, etc.) to reach a large number of widely located employees. • Draft messages and scripts for leaders and managers to present to employees in written and spoken form. Coach managers, leaders, and executives to maximize the effectiveness of their communication with employees. • Partner with and coach the Human Resources department to deliver effective communication to the workforce regarding benefits, general employee matters, optimization for new- hire onboarding, annual enrollment, and organizational change initiatives.

Requirements:

Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree Communication, Journalism or related field or equivalent work experience • Minimum of 5 yrs. experience as lead subject matter expert for employee communication in a complex, service-based organization. • Superior written and verbal communication skills. • Strategic planning skills combined with demonstrated tactical delivery of a wide range of employee communication and mediums. • Project management experience in an organization with upwards of 2000 employees. • Record of employing sound change management principles as a core competency in the planning and delivery of employee and internal communications. • Must have reliable transportation for local travel.
