Description:
The executive director will be a paid employee hired by the executive board of directors. The board of directors’ chair is expected to serve as the liaison between the boards and the executive director in charge of day to day management of the Tolton Spirituality Program, herein referred to as the Program. The executive director may execute and perform his/his duties remotely by phone, video conferencing or in-person, as needed. The Executive Director is not required to live in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Executive Director will be expected to attend (via, video conferencing or in-person) board meetings to stay in the loop of board business. The executive director will be required to keep the board informed about what he/she, the paid staff, and volunteers are doing to ensure the health of the projects and programs. The Executive Director is expected to provide the board with feedback on progress toward achieving goals for the strategic plan and any budget needed to fulfill the expected duties.
The executive director’s exact duties and responsibilities may vary somewhat from time to time given the unknown factors of a present and post-COVID19 world we presently are encountering. The executive director must accept direct responsibility for writing the grant proposal and any future authoring of policies, programs, and initiatives, according to his/his job description, outline in this document, and ratified by the board of directors with any amendments to said description. He/She shall do so with the intent of executing, the organization’s mission, and vision he designed.
The Executive Director will manage (remotely via, video conferencing or in-person) all normal responsibilities of the organization, including managing staff and volunteers. Working with staff, the executive director will be required to develop policies to inform the various programs as they work toward fulfilling the organization’s charitable purpose for which he as the author of the Thriving Congregations Initiative Grant Proposal intended.
The Executive Director is to serve as the face and public spokesperson for the organization on a local and national level, whenever possible, to include but not limited to public presentations to the media, members, donors, government representatives and members of the community at large. The paid staff will serve as his/his deputies in these matters whenever he/she cannot serve in this capacity (remotely via, video conferencing or in-person). The role will also include that the executive director attend or participate in fundraising events, public relation events and other events for various organizational programs (remotely via, video conferencing or in-person). The executive director will be paid for his/his work as a staff member.
The executive board and board of director’s chair, along with the Executive Director will share some responsibilities of oversight of the Program. Such shared duties will include, but not be limited to, developing an overall fundraising plan, reviewing the budget, and assessing whether the organization is staying true to its mission.
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Divinity / Theology or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management / Business or related field
• Previous experience in a senior leadership role
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategic plans
• Deep understanding of financial strategies and finance-related performance metrics
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in management and governance
• Ability to work with the local Tolton Ambassadors-Chicago and the Tolton Cause
• Pastoral Care abilities and experience in parochial and community environments
• Strong aptitude for verbal/written communication, presentation and development
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, to include Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other video conferencing tools that will enhance his/her ability to work effectively and remotely
