SUMMARY
The student life coordinator is a valuable position in our community. Not only does the Student Life Coordinator help plan and organize events and activities for the community of Josephinum, but is also the keeper of the strong, positive environment that is present at Josephinum Academy. The Student Life Coordinator will embody all of the goals as well as the mission of our school to help serve all of our stakeholders with equity and grace.There are three buckets that are broken down and described in the job description; those areas being: Student Life, Campus Ministry and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a part-time (25 hours per week), temporary position. The Student Life Coordinator is directly accountable to the Dean of Students. His/Her role is responsible for organizing student life events and supporting the efforts of the Principal's Team.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To work with the administration in implementing the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education.Schools of the Sacred Heart commit themselves to educate to:
- A personal and active faith in God
- A deep respect for intellectual values
- A social awareness which impels to action
- The building of community as a Christian value
- Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom
To support a school culture conducive to the spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of its members.
To create special event schedules and communicate schedule changes to the faculty, staff, students, and parents.
To communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding student life events.
To support the Principal’s Team with administrative tasks.
To work alongside the Director of Marketing to ensure that student events and activities are appropriately represented on Josephinum’s social media and communication outlets.
Work with the Development team to facilitate student involvement with scholarship stewardship
STUDENT LIFE
To help plan and execute major school events, such as: Junior Recognition Ceremony, Academic Awards Ceremony, Graduation, and advancement events.
To work in conjunction with the Dean of Students and JACS to plan and organize student events, such as: the spring dance, J Factor, faculty appreciation week, etc.
To work closely with the Dean of Students and the Advancement team in coordinating fundraising efforts for both the senior class and clubs that meet school policy
To organize and help deliver morning announcements.
To support the Dean of Students with Morning Assemblies.
CAMPUS MINISTRY
To aid the campus ministry department with the organization of masses, special prayer services, retreats, and spiritual forums.
To help Campus Minister plan cohesive schedule with events prioritized
Help to plan retreats and other traditional/religious experiences including Conge.
Support the Campus Minister through the SHCOG Process
DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION (DEI)
Attend DEI meetings along with Dean of Students and other local high schools and bring the conversation back to the team and school
Help survey and collect data around how we can continue to support our stakeholders (Board, Teachers, Staff, Parents/families, Alumnae and students)
Review needs of stakeholders and help in the development of a strategic plan on how to build supports for these different groups
Create ongoing conversation and dialogue around DEI topics.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Bilingual (preferred)
