POSITION DESCRIPTION Reports to:                   Executive Committee and Board of Directors Compensation:    $80,000-$95,000 Benefits: [Salary, paid time off, travel allowance, 403b match, stipend for healthcare, relocation stipend, and flexible work week] Status: Full-time, Salary, Exempt The Executive Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of CIVA and is accountable for strategic and operational priorities; overseeing the implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures; and effectively communicating, interacting, and maintaining positive and ongoing professional relationships with constituents throughout the nation. Working in collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead the strategic planning process for CIVA, including the creation of a long-range plan for organizational sustainability and growth. For 40 years CIVA has helped artists, collectors, critics, curators, scholars, and pastors explore the profound relationship between art and faith. Our programs include SEEN Journal, art exhibitions, national conference, regional symposiums, and the Doing Good Well leadership program for women working in the visual arts. CIVA members, who represent diverse religious traditions, artistic media, geographic regions, and ethnicities, are united under the call “Serious Art. Serious Faith.”

Requirements:

The ideal ED is a strategist and operational leader, a gifted administrator who is able to bring significant organizational and management expertise to CIVA. This next leader will demonstrate excellent stewardship, leveraging resources wisely while building both membership and donor bases to expand CIVA’s reach and visibility and assure a strong financial foundation for future growth. He/she should be significantly involved in his/her particular Christian faith tradition and practice with an openness to engaging and embracing other traditions and practices, Christian and other, within both the CIVA community and the broader artistic community. An advanced degree in art, humanities, social sciences, non-profit management, and/or ministry is preferred, or possessing professional experience and deep knowledge of the visual arts field if an advanced degree is lacking.
