Description:
St. John the Evangelist Parish is a dynamic parish, located in St. John, Indiana, just 40 minutes outside of Chicago. We are a large, active and growing parish focused on evangelization. We offer a comprehensive salary and benefits package, part of which is the use of a house owned by the parish.
We are seeking a full-time Director of Evangelization to assist in growing faith and passion for Christ within our adult parishioner community. Working closely with the pastor, parish staff and small group leaders, the Director of Evangelization will be focused on enhancing existing programs and developing new initiatives to bring a “head to heart” connection with Jesus, in addition to cultivating relationships and implementing evangelization programs to grow the number of adults in our programs.
An exciting facet of this position includes spearheading a young adult program. We were recently awarded a grant through St. Meinrad’s and Lily Foundation to establish innovative programming for young adults, ages 18-32.
Other responsibilities include:
• Managing and coordinating our Alpha program
• Researching / developing / recommending curriculum for our network of small groups and Bible study groups
• Collaborating with our Outreach Coordinator to provide adult service opportunities
• Working with our Youth Minister on teen and young adult evangelization
• Developing marketing and media outreach with our media team
• Coordinating our Next Steps Sunday (new parishioner orientations)
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate will have a dynamic, outgoing personality coupled with a strong passion for Jesus Christ and for sharing our Catholic faith. Responsibilities for this position include a heavy emphasis on planning, evangelization, marketing and reaching our adult parishioners amid all the other distractions in their lives.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Communications or related field in addition to a strong personal faith and commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church. Experience in facilitating / leading small groups and one on one mentoring is preferred. Administrative, organizational, communication, public speaking and computer skills are all essential to success in this position, as is creativity and innovation.
