Description:

Develops and coordinates a youth ministry program for high school students as well as provides support for effective and meaningful parish communications with the people of St. John the Baptist Parish and the surrounding community. Provides opportunities for youth to grow in their faith and their relationship with Christ and the Church, and develops strategies to reach out and communicate with youth, parish, and community. Position reports to the Pastor. Responsibilities regarding Youth Ministry: •Plan and implement a high school youth ministry program •Create and develop a core group of youth and adult leaders and provide for their enrichment •Oversee regular/weekly meetings and events (faith formation, service, social, etc.) for high school students •Participate in a leadership role in the junior high confirmation preparation program •Collaborate with the eighth grade RE catechists and 7th and 8th grade school religion teachers •Collaborate with and be a resource for the volunteer coordinator of junior high youth ministry •Organize annual mission trip and trip to a conference/retreat •Stay connected to the Youth Ministry Cluster and diocesan Youth Ministry Office •Collaborate with neighboring Catholic Youth Ministry programs •Provide promotional material or youth ministry news to the Sunday bulletin, website, school and RE programs, and social media •Attend parish staff meetings Responsibilities regarding Communications: •Create and maintain communications strategies and plans for parish •Manage, maintain, and update the parish website •Collaborate with the school in updating the school website •Maintain and oversee social communications for the parish •Weekly review the parish bulletin and assist the parish secretary with the bulletin as needed

Requirements:

Active member of a Catholic parish. Post-secondary education in a field related to theology or youth/pastoral ministry. Experience in Catholic Youth Ministry leadership. Familiarity with mainstream tools and platforms for web and social media design, publishing, and promotion. Excellent written communication skills. A high level of initiative and the ability to work independently and perform duties with minimal direction.
