Position Summary:  
Serve as Formator for National Pastoral Migratoria (NPM) to support the formation of pastor leaders at pilot diocesan sites, utilizing in-person and virtual formats as appropriate. Support the preparation, development and facilitation of Pastoral Migratoria formation sessions, including for the NPM Institute. Pastoral Migratoria ® (PM) is an immigrant leadership ministry of service, justice and accompaniment in parish communities.
 
Responsibilities:  
Serve as Formator to support the initial formation, formation to formators, continuous formation processes (in-person and virtual) at PM pilot diocesan sites.

  1. Support the preparation, development, and facilitation of PM formation sessions (in-person and virtual), working in collaboration with the National Leadership Formation Coordinator and the NPM Office*. 
  2. Support the development and updating of PM formation PowerPoint presentations, training manuals, guides and course materials, including in-person and virtual formats and relevant cultural concepts.
  3. Participate in the development and implementation of initiatives for fellowship and continuous formation.
  4. Support the development and facilitation of the NPM Institute to introduce PM to new dioceses and deepen/strengthen PM in existing dioceses.
  5. Participate in the development of RED (network)-NPM as a tool for developing national strategies and a digital space and community to respond to the needs of the immigrant community (e.g. education, advocacy).
  6. Prepare reports on program outcomes. Assist in developing and tracking evaluation criteria and in impact analysis.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

*The NPM Office is at the Archdiocese of Chicago.
 

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, or related field.  Doctorate preferred.
  2. Fully bilingual (Spanish/English) with strong written and oral communication skills
  3. A minimum of 5 years work experience as a formator in a pastoral context, with a personal and/or professional history with immigrant communities,
  4. Knowledge of immigration issues, committed to social justice and social action
  5. Must demonstrate deep understanding of and commitment of Catholic social teaching (See, Judge and Act methodology) and the Church’s evangelization mission.
  6. Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values. Hiring preference may be given to candidates who are Catholic.
  7. Familiarity with ministry, pastoral formation, and leadership development utilizing online platforms (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, etc.)
  8. Facility with videoconferencing platforms.
  9. Demonstrable leadership, strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  10. Excellent facilitation skills.
  11. Willing to travel as needed across the U.S. This position is based in Chicago, IL.
