Position Summary:

The Director of Social-Emotional Learning (“Director”) provides oversight, coordination, training, and support for the system-level strategies to address the social and emotional learning of students in the Catholic schools. The Director leverages the expertise of outside partners in these efforts, as warranted. The Director supports individual schools with specific social-emotional student issues, working in tandem with the school leadership, Regional Directors, and other relevant OCS personnel.

Responsibilities:

  •  Develops, promotes, and implements system-level strategies to support the social-emotional learning of students in the Archdiocese.
     
  •  Provides ongoing training and resources for principals, teachers, and other personnel in social-emotional learning.
     
  •  Builds partnerships with third-party organizations and agencies, as warranted, to support social-emotional efforts.
     
  •  Provides support and advice for schools to resolve individual social-emotional issues, working closely with the Regional Directors and other relevant OCS personnel.
     
  •  Works with the Director of Inclusive Education to drive the system-level vision for inclusion and differentiation of instruction.
     
  •  Contributes significantly to system-level strategies related to school climate and culture (working with other OCS personnel).
     
  •  Contributes significantly to the system-level strategy for crisis planning and emergency response in Catholic schools.
     
  •  Attends all required OCS-related meetings and events.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
     
  • At least three years of experience as a counselor, child psychologist, social work, or related role. Experience in Catholic education preferred.
     
  • Superior knowledge of best practices in social-emotional learning. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to form, maintain, and leverage positive relationships with stakeholders and outside agencies; strong aptitude in information technologies.
     
  • Possess integrity, diligence, prudence, vision, sensitivity to diverse communities. Ability to understand and support the Catholic mission of the Archdiocese (practicing Catholic preferred).
